Support for Self Employed During Coronavirus

So far, with the Coronavirus announcements for small businesses, there have not been as much support for self employed businesses. We are hoping that there will be more to come and that the administrative aspect is what has stopped more announcements so far.

Support for Self Employed During Coronavirus


VAT payment delay

Employee wages 80% Job Retention Scheme
For self employed businesses with staff the employee wages 80% Coronavirus Job Retention

£10k and £25k grants
For self employed businesses with premises the £10,000 and £25,000 grants are applicable 
Personal Tax July Payment on Account delay 
The chancellor announced a delay in the personal tax payment on account due to be paid by 31st July 2020. This payment will now not be due until January 2021.

Statutory Sick Pay (SSP)
Self employed people are not entitled to SSP. However there has been an amendment to the Universal Credit rules to allow those that are unwell or self isolating to be able to claim and equivalent to SSP (at the same level as an employee would receive). IR35 legislation has been pushed back
The legislation which was due to be amended has now been pushed back.
Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS)
